James Bemis was born in 1961 and has been painting professionally about fifteen years.
Working in oil, James is a diverse artist, and is not afraid to explore different ideas with his paintings. Whether painting en plein air in Venice, or sketching workers as they go about their day to day lives, James is constantly immersed in drawing and painting.
He is inspired by many different people, cultures, and landscapes, in particular the eccentric and quirky. Each of his works capture the spontaneity of a moment, a weather condition or human mannerism, thereby allowing the viewer to share with James the mystery and ambiguity he saw in the subject.
He exhibits with a number of well-known galleries in the UK and has shown and sold at the Royal Academy summer exhibition. His works make up part of many collections worldwide.
