Cavendish Morton was a master of colour and light. He was born in Edinburgh in 1911. His skill and technical ability to interpret his surroundings in both oil and watercolour demonstrates an understanding of nature that comes only with years of practice. He exhibited at the RA, ROI and RI on numerous occasions. It is hardly surprising that his passion for sunlight, so finely executed in his landscapes, marine and beach scenes captures a magical sensation that brought about a great following for his work.
His pictures hang in many major public and private collections including, The British Museum, Glasgow Museum, Norwich Castle Museum and the Contemporary Art Society. Sadly, he died in 2015.
