Modern British Painters

Peter Brown PNEAC, ROI, PS

Peter Brown was born in 1967 and first came to Bath in 1986 to study an art foundation course. He went on to study fine art at Manchester Polytechnic and returned to Bath in 1993. He works in charcoal, oil and pastel for which he has received many awards.

He is inspired by the architecture and the life of Bath and has become a familiar figure painting around the city's streets. In recent years he has extended his range of subjects to now include towns and cities such as London, Cardiff, Chichester, Oxford and Henley-on-Thames. He rarely paints in the studio preferring to work directly from the subject on site in sometimes the foulest of weathers.

He shows regularly in the Laing Art Competition and the Hunting Prize. Peter is a member of the New English Art Club, the Pastel Society and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. His work makes up part of the following public collection and corporate collections including The National Library of Wales, The Victoria Art Gallery, the Holburne Museum, Bath, The RAC Club, House of Frazer, The Target Corporation, The Drapers' Company, Howard de Walden Estate and The Bowerman Collection.
