Isle Of Wight Gallery Lands Picture Deal For Queen Mary 2 23rd May 2002 A leading Isle of Wight art gallery has secured a major contract to supply 327 pictures for Cunard's Queen Mary 2. Weighing in at 150,000 tonnes, the ship will become the largest passenger liner in the world, when it launches in Spring 2003. Bembridge-based Island Fine Arts has concluded a deal with an Amsterdam art consultancy (Enterprise and Art) responsible for commissioning works of art for the new superliner. Island Fine Arts will be supplying 15 original works, 3 in oil by Rod Pearce and 12 pastels by Tony Allain. Each of Tony's 12 works will be reproduced in limited editions of 26, and will be displayed in both private and public areas of the ship. The largest of Rod's works will measure over 8ft by 3ft, and will be hung in one of Queen Mary2's elegant stairways. "We are absolutely delighted to be involved with this project and hope that it leads to further involvement with the Dutch-based international consultancy," said Nick Fletcher, director of Island Fine Arts.
