David Cobley RP, RWA, NEAC
Back to thumbnails. Born 1954 in Northampton, David studied at the Northampton School of Art, Liverpool School of Art and Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan. David began work as an illustrator, but in 1989 he began devoting more time to painting after being short-listed for the John Player Award.
David works in oils as a figurative and still life painter. His use of broad brush stokes and light enables him to capture everyday objects with such intricate detail and sensitivity, that they become alive on the canvas.
He has exhibited widely and has won many awards including the Daler-Rowney Prize, John Brandler Prize and the Llewellyn Alexander Award. David’s work is included in many private collects worldwide.
