Colin Orchard was born in Surrey in 1935 and initially worked as an Art Director and Graphic Designer.
Colin’s desire to spend more time with his life long interest in painting saw a move to Cornwall where he has lived since 1983. He works on a square format in oil, preparing his own canvases in a traditional method using rabbit skin glue and calico. The inspiration for his paintings can be found in painters such as Sickert, Vuillard and Bonnard. His execution of life as he sees it, illustrates a profound understanding and appreciation of space. Light and shadow are central to this process, dark shadows and inscrutable evening light, all to be found in the Venetian waterways, Norwegian Fjords, East Anglia landscape or Cornish scene.

He has exhibited through many well-known galleries including the RA Summer Exhibition and his paintings hang in many private collections.
