Ian Hargreaves
Back to thumbnails. Ian Hargreaves was born in Blackpool in 1957, but grew up on the south coast. After studying Technical Graphics at Bournemouth Art College he realised his future lay in painting. The early 1980's saw him working in London and Palermo undertaking commissions. By 1986 he had established a base in Germany and a strong following, with both solo and group exhibitions in many well-known German galleries.
Painting in acrylic, Ian's work is based around the every day scenes, people hanging out their washing and children gathering in a square. Ian's work is not about the typical views associated with cities such as Venice, Rome or Naples, but about caputring the realism of the situation.
Ian's has exhibited in the USA and across Europe. His works hang in many private and public collections.
