Susan was born in 1953. After graduating in Biology and Psychology she returned to her native Yorkshire and a lifelong love of painting. Her paintings portray a tableaux of life, showing the human condition.
She paints with a native style originally guided by fellow Yorkshire artist William Selby who instructed her for three years enabling her to develop her own individual style. Susan began painting for a living in 1985 and was elected a member of The Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1992 and a member of The Society of British Artists in 1998.
She has exhibited at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for the last seventeen years and has won many awards including The Alan Gourley Memorial Award in 2001. Susan's paintings are in many collections at home and abroad including The Anthony Petullo Collection in Illinois and The Bridgeman Art Library.
