Roy Connelly was born in 1966. He became a full-time painter in 2004 after more than twenty years travelling the world as a television cameraman.
His preferred method of working involves painting from life by the direct observation of his subject. His paintings are usually completed in a single session, which helps him to capture the time the picture was created as well as the place. He works outside throughout the year - the delicate quality of light in the winter months is a favourite subject.
He has exhibited widely including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the New English Art Club and Royal Society of British Artists. In 2008 he was honoured to be an invited artist at the Discerning Eye exhibition in London.
